In DSTP, we spent time reading and analyzing plays from different genres and cultural backgrounds. This led to essays further analyzing the plays, as well as a final project where we chose a design element to design for one of the highlighted in-class texts. From this course, I took away a deeper sense of how to effectively read plays and dissect their content in an academic manner. Examples of work from this class include an essay on Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun and a lighting/sound design presentation for Paula Vogel's How I Learned to Drive.
